Extractor fans are electric fans that are installed in bathrooms to remove the moisture and steam that is produced when you have a shower or bath. They help to improve ventilation and prevent a build up of condensation. The extraction of moisture helps to keep your bathroom drier, stopping damp developing on your walls to prevent mould and bacteria growing in wet conditions. Without ventilation, mould growth and bacteria would be likely to significantly build up, damaging the walls and impacting the quality of air which can have health implications. When installing extractor fans it is beneficial to fit them near a source of air, or to an exterior wall as this is where they work best and allow optimal circulation. Another type of fan is known as a centrifugal extractor fan, these are typically fitted to the ceiling and are found in industrial and commercial environments where elongated ducting is needed. The third type is an inline extractor fan, which can be an axial or centrifugal fan and they are commonly placed in loft space above the ceiling.
