Ancon ST1 ‘Type 1’ Heavy Duty Wall Ties are for brick-to-block construction. Wall ties are essential components used in brick-to-block construction to provide a secure connection between the outer brickwork (masonry) and the inner blockwork (concrete blocks or other materials). They ensure that both layers of the wall act together as a single structural unit, enhancing the overall stability and strength of the wall.

• The section that spans the cavity has a series of holes to provide water drips - This allows the same tie to be used in insulated cavities as well as open cavities.

• The effect that the slender high tensile wire wall ties have on heat transfer is negligible, they are generally excluded from U-value calculations to BS EN ISO 6946.
• The wall tie prevents differential movement between the brick and block layers, especially in areas prone to environmental stress, such as wind loads, temperature changes, and ground settlement. Without proper wall ties, differential movement could lead to cracks or separation between the brick and block layers, compromising the structural integrity of the wall.
• The Type 1 (heavy duty) performance of these ties is independently verified by tension and compression tests in M2 mortar at Lucideon and declared through Ancon’s ‘CE’ labelling and documentation.
• Type 1 wall ties are suitable for virtually any building type, height and geographical location and are installed at a standard spacing of 2.5 ties per square metre; they are typically used on developments over 15 metres in height.
